James has had a varied career in horticulture and agriculture, bringing broad knowledge and experience to his role backed up with the BASIS Certificate of Competence in Sustainable Land Management. A former arable farmer, he understands the farming year and current industry pressures. Since the team, he has advised landowners on environmental schemes including the Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI), capital grants and hedgerow assessments. As co-facilitator of the Winchester Downs Cluster Group, he organises events, engages members, coordinates surveys and projects and manages newsletters/ website updates.
